Private Rib Charter

Skippered Rib charter

Rib-It are a favourite for private and family Rib charter days. We know that chartering a Rib is expensive; the day must be a success no matter what the weather. A number of factors are important:

  1. The Rib itself needs to be right. The boat needs to be in great condition, powerful and reliable as well as a capable sea boat giving a good ride. It needs to be as dry as possible, feel safe and have plentiful dry stowage. Our boats are all of this and more.
  1. The skipper needs to be smart, friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. The skipper needs to make sure everybody on the boat has a great day and anybody nervous or unsure needs to be won over in the first few minutes. Our skippers are awesome – all our feedback tells us so.
  1. We need the knowledge. What is the best route to account for tide and wind? What might interest those on board most? What is the right strategy for delighting different interest groups? This is what we do for a living and it helps to know the area like the back of our hand.

Your time ashore is a key component of the day. Nobody wants to be on a Rib all day long; arriving and departing from wonderful Isle of Wight ports is a big part of the enjoyment. We are so lucky that both Cowes and Yarmouth – very different in character but excellent destinations – are our local Island ports.

It is almost inevitable that your day will involve a really good lunch. Luckily the area has many great venues covering a multitude of styles and budgets. One or two of our favourites are accessible by sea. The Hut in Colwell Bay acquired near mythical status in the last couple of years – expect to book well ahead; but their reputation is justified. It is certainly where we go for a special meal.
