Established in 1812 and with up to 1,000 boats racing in 40 classes, Cowes Week is the largest and longest running annual sailing regatta in the UK. Cowes Week in 2018 is from the 4th to the 11th August.
Cowes Week is an important fixture in the social calendar and has grown beyond a sailing regatta to become a major event in its own right with as much activity ashore as afloat.
Ribs are chartered by those providing hospitality to clients whether or not they are racing. Ribs are perfect for shuttling guests to and from the mainland, avoiding horrendous ferry queues, and the Ribs are then available throughout the day for spectating.
Race teams charter Ribs to provide operational support to their race entry; Ribs laden with sails heading off to be repaired are a common sight at the end of each day’s racing.
If your company wishes to enter a yacht in Cowes Week either for a day or the whole regatta then please follow this link to our sister company Solent Events who will be able to help you.
Whilst many race starts are just off Cowes on the Royal Yacht Squadron line, being aboard a Rib enables you to follow all of the start lines and be in the best possible place to see the action. Our skippers will place the Rib just off the most exciting marks to watch the roundings before whizzing off the finish line.
The festival atmosphere attracts in excess of 100,000 spectators each year, with temporary bars, live music, entertainment and highlights including The Red Arrows. On Friday night there is a fantastic fireworks display. Chartering a Rib for the fireworks evening is great fun; guests often bring a picnic and anchor up for a front row view.
